Yes. Divorced, khula and widowed members are on Sunni Marriage alongside those never married, and reverts alongside those born Muslim. Members can filter by marital status and Islamic background.

Honestly, it varies. Some marriages happen within weeks; some take longer. We don't promise a timeline, we promise a process built around the deen. The rest is from Allah.

No. Having a wali is recommended, but not required.

Note: if you don't have a wali, your matches will be limited to brothers who have added a female contact. This is so you can talk to her directly, and to uphold our no free-mixing policy.

Sisters without a wali aren't shut out. We connect you to a brother through his nominated female family contact, usually his mother or sister. The no-private-DMs principle still holds; the framework just adapts.

Walis don't have to install the app. They can join the group chat in-app if they want, or be reached directly by the brother through their normal contact details. Sisters choose which mode works for their wali at signup, and can change it anytime.

Sunni Marriage mirrors the Sunnah of Khadijah (raḍiyallāhu 'anhā): sisters can express interest first, but the conversation itself only opens when both have matched and the wali (or female contact) is in the chat from the start.

No. Brothers can add a profile photo if they want to. Sisters don't have profile photos: your profile is your words, and you can share a photo in the chat once you've matched.

A brother's profile photo is reviewed before other members can see it. Until it's approved, only you can see it.

Every profile has a “Report this profile” link. Once you’ve matched, you can use “Report an issue with this match”, and inside a chat, “Report a problem with this chat”. Reports go straight to our team. You can also unmatch at any time, and the other person isn’t notified.

Yes. You must be 18 or over to join Sunni Marriage. If we find or are told that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.
